Whether you skate everyday or you're looking to get back on the board, we all have something unique to give back to skateboarding.

Help us grow skateboarding - Ramp Up is a new type of youth skateboarding program that’s breaking down barriers and growing like crazy! We’re making the sport accessible to all communities with programming that meets kids where they are. Skaters bring their own safety helmets, and Ramp Up provides modular ramps, skateboards, and certified instructors.

Compensation

New coaches onboard at $20/hour with room to grow!

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Assist with sessions of up to 12 skaters (ages 5-12)

  • Equipment set up/breakdown before and after each session

  • Develop, test, and contribute new material to our growing curriculum

  • Mentor skaters to develop new skills, confidence, and respect for the sport

  • Ensure safe skating conditions

  • Participate in paid Ramp Up training, as required

In addition to facilitating programs, our coaches also serve as the face of the team, representing Ramp Up in various settings, and they may communicate with different groups, including parents, and community partners.

Programs

  • Weekday after-school and/or evening sessions

  • Weekend morning sessions

  • Special events and holiday clinics

This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, coaches typically work between 4-12 hours per week.

Requirements

Above all, our coaches need to be first class role models for the next generation of skaters. We’re looking to build a team that exemplifies professionalism, creativity, adaptability, and empathy.

Coaches will have the flexibility to choose the programs and hours that work for their schedule. We require that coaches commit to attending every session within their chosen program.

Technical requirements:

  • Criminal and Child Clearances must be current

  • Confidence riding a skateboard (pushing, turning, stopping)

  • Eager to practice public speaking and leadership skills

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

This role is open to all ages, genders, ethnicities, and skill levels.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous coaching or teaching experience

  • Advanced skateboarding skills (kickflip and beyond)

  • Fluent in Spanish
